Stand
Up For America March and Rally
November 26, 2001
Here in Hawaii, though we are separated by
an ocean, we feel the same loss and pain as other Americans. Indeed,
a number of Hawaii residents were also killed in the attack; our
tourism-based economy has been hit harder than many states. On September
29, more than 3,000 people on all the major islands participated
in the Stand Up For America
march and rally as a tribute to the victims of the attack and their
families. The Honolulu Advertiser reported that it was truly a "people's
parade made up of ordinary citizens who wanted to show their patriotic
spirit.
