Celebration
In Honor of 29th Brigade
December
28th from 4:00 to 8:00pm, 2004
Honolulu – December 15, 2004 – Stand Up For America
(SUFA), announced today that it will be hosting a “Hawaii
Honors the Hawaii National Guard 29th Brigade Ohana” event
at the Waikiki Shell on Tuesday, December 28th from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
SUFA
founder/president Mike Gabbard said, “The purpose of the event
is to honor our brave, citizen soldiers and express our aloha to
them and their families for the sacrifices they are making to protect
and defend our country.”
The
free “pau hana” event will include dinner for the soldiers
and their families, entertainment by some of Hawaii’s top
performing artists, such as Na Leo, Jake Shimabukuro and Leon &
Malia, and fabulous door prizes.
Gabbard
said, “This is a free event for all of our active military
and their families only. Military IDs will be required to get in.
We are asking for donations to make this great occasion a reality.
We are grateful that the people of Hawaii have been so generous
in their outpouring of aloha for our troops.”
Starting
December 20th about 2000 soldiers from the 29th Brigade will be
arriving home for the Christmas holidays from their training at
Fort Bliss, Texas. They’ll be home for about ten days to visit
with family and friends, then return to Ft. Polk, Louisiana for
additional training before shipping out to Iraq in February.”
Stand Up For America was formed in 2001 in the wake of the September
11th tragedy and is a 501(C)3 non-profit, tax-exempt, non-partisan,
